Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a 8 Kb circular double-stranded DNA virus, which causes cervical carcinoma and seems to be strongly associated with various malignant tumors. So far, more than 100 different HPV genotypes have been identified, and they are clinically classified into high-risk types and low-risk types. High-risk types, including HPV-16, 18, 31, 33, 35, are detected in more than 90% of cervical carcinomas and cervical intraepithelial neoplasias. HPV DNA Chip kit provides a fast and accurate method of HPV genotyping. This kit provides 19 different HPV type specific oligonucleotide probes and ?-globin probes for control on a glass slide. The slide is scanned for fluorescence of streptavidin-R-phycoerythrin bound to the target DNA by using a laser-equipped scanner.
